Life Lesson: just fist fight with the other team, and they'll forfeit

If you don't already know, I'm a soccer player. Well, not professional or anything, but this year I was lucky enough to make a travelling team. It's really, really competitive in this league, so it's a lot harder - but, also a lot more fun.

Anyway, last night we had a home game. We. Kicked. Their. Butts. Both literally and figuratively. We got our first goal a minute into the game. Then, our goalie scored a goal - from her eighteen yard box. I think it was that, that drove the nails into the coffin.

About ten - twenty minutes into the second half, we were winning four to zero.  I guess the other team didn't like that or something because a girl on their team shoved a girl on my team. The girl on my team plays rugby through school - which, for those of you don't know, is kind of like Football only way cooler - and, as a result, doesn't let anyone walk over. So, she shoves her back in the legal, shoulder to shoulder way.

Then, this girl decides to go crazy and basically starts a fight. As I said, the girl on my team doesn't take anything from anyone, so she stands up for herself and fights back. The ref and our coaches actually didn't notice for a couple of seconds, but after a bunch of girls on my team tried to break it up they did.

The ref looked like he was eighty years old, so his unkeen observation skills are to be expected.

Since the ref didn't really see what went on - only the fight between the two - he gave them both red cards. This really peeved the other coach, so their team decided to just leave instead of finishing the game. We ended up winning because they "abandoned" the game - even though we were beating them four to nothing.

At practice tonight, the girls involved - the fight girl and the ones who were trying to break it up - had to write out statements. Apparently, there is going to be a hearing and everything. It's actually kind of exciting. Seeing someone get red carded in the flesh was pretty cool if you ignore the fact that a really good player on your team got suspended for a game or two.

If you really, really want to win, all you got to do is start a fist fight with the other team, and they will probably forfeit.
